Connect Shopify

Publish blog articles through a custom app with write_content.

Last updated October 7, 2026

Before you start

  • Your store needs at least one blog (Online Store → Blog posts).
  • You need permission to create and install a custom app for the store.

Connect step by step

  1. Create a custom app with write_content

Create a custom app for your store and give it the Admin API scope write_content. Install the app and copy its Admin API access token (it starts with shpat_). Shopify shows it only once. Where you create custom apps depends on your store’s setup; Shopify’s help on custom apps describes the current way.

  2. Find your store domain and blog ID

The store domain is the address ending in .myshopify.com — not your own domain. For the blog ID, open the blog in your Shopify admin; the number at the end of the address is the ID.

  3. Open the publishing settings

In StrideRank, open Autopilot → Settings and go to Publishing. You can also connect during setup (step 3). Only owners and admins of the account can change the connection. Choose Shopify.

  4. Enter the details

Enter the Shop domain (for example your-shop.myshopify.com), the Blog ID and paste the Admin API access token. Author name is optional; without it, your store name is used.

  5. Save and test

Click Save connection, then Test connection. The test reaches your site with the saved details and reports the first problem it finds. A connection that has been saved but not tested shows “saved — not tested yet”.

Good to know

  • Articles are published immediately in the blog you chose, with title, content, URL handle, summary and the article image.
  • The SEO title and meta description are stored in the fields Shopify uses for search engines.
  • The public link is built from your store’s primary domain, for example https://example.com/blogs/news/your-article.
  • When a live article is changed and approved again, the same Shopify article is updated. If its URL handle changes, Shopify sets up a redirect from the old address.
