Before you start
- Your Wix site needs the Wix Blog app installed.
- You need permission to create API keys for your Wix account.
Connect step by step
Create an API key
In Wix, open the API Keys Manager of your account and generate a new key. Give it the permissions Manage Blog and Manage Ricos Documents — the second one lets StrideRank convert the article into Wix’s rich content format. Copy the key.
Find your site ID
Open the dashboard of your site. The site ID is the long code in the browser address after
/dashboard/, in the formxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.Open the publishing settings
In StrideRank, open Autopilot → Settings and go to Publishing. You can also connect during setup (step 3). Only owners and admins of the account can change the connection. Choose Wix.
Enter the details
Enter the Site ID and paste the API key. Author member ID is optional: some Wix blogs require a site member as the author. If publishing fails without it, enter the member ID of the author (same code format as the site ID).
Save and test
Click Save connection, then Test connection. The test reaches your site with the saved details and reports the first problem it finds. A connection that has been saved but not tested shows “saved — not tested yet”.
Good to know
- StrideRank creates a draft post, publishes it right away and reads back the public address.
- The SEO title and meta description are set on the post.
- Wix uses the first image inside the article as the cover image. StrideRank does not upload a separate cover image to your Wix media library.
- Wix accepts at most 30,000 characters of article HTML per post. Longer articles are not shortened; publishing stops with a clear message instead.
| Message | What to check |
|---|---|
| Wix rejected the credentials | The API key and its two permissions; the key belongs to the account that owns the site. |
| The Wix site ID is invalid | Copy the code from the dashboard address again. |
| Wix could not convert the article content | The key lacks “Manage Ricos Documents”. |
